December News

Past November Events

Our Remembrance Day Liturgy was a beautiful celebration. The children were excited to be a part of it and did a great job writing about what peace means to them. They also made many lovely kinds of poppies to display in our classroom.

Thank you to all parents who came out to visit with us during our Parent/Teacher Conferences earlier this month. It was wonderful being able to share so many of the great things that your children are doing here at school with you personally.

December's Here!

We have been fortunate to have fairly mild weather this fall, but the cold weather is still on its way! Our students are doing much better at getting themselves dressed-thank you for working with them at home to make this happen. Please keep practicing the order that they need to get dressed in (snow pants, coat, boots, hats, mittens) and please label everything.

We have started to prepare for Christmas and have many exciting activities coming up.

Advent Mass

Our Advent Mass is Monday (Dec. 4) morning in the gym. Parents/family members are welcome. We will be working on several different Advent activities in our classroom to help prepare our hearts for the coming of Jesus at Christmas.

City Bus Tour

We are looking forward to our class trip on the City Bus Tour this Wednesday. It will be an exciting morning learning about buses and bus safety. Afterward, we will ride a city bus around town to see some sights in our beautiful city.

Healthy Classroom

As you may have guessed, there have been many recent bouts of illness throughout the school. We have been working diligently to have the children wash their hands frequently and catch their sneezes and coughs in their elbow (not covering their mouths with their hands when they sneeze or cough). We would appreciate it if you could continue encouraging these same practices at home for the good of everyone's health! If your child has had a fever, vomiting or diarrhea, we would encourage you to keep them home for 24 hours after it has passed (as stated by the Simcoe County District Health Unit) . Nobody wants to be sick over Christmas holidays! Thank you!

Christmas Concert

Our SCD Christmas Concert will be on Thursday, December 21st at 1:05 pm (we will let you know if there are any changes in the time) in the gym. Our kindergarten classes have been busy preparing some new songs and a special encore performance of one of our favourite songs from last year. We would appreciate it if the children could be dressed in festive clothing or in Christmas colours. Family members are welcome to attend, but please be considerate as to how many people you invite as space is limited.

Class Christmas Celebration

The kindergarten classes will be celebrating Christmas on the morning of Friday, December 22nd. We do not need any treats sent in as we will be providing them for the children. We will be having a Polar Express Pyjama Party with fruit treats. The children are encouraged to wear their pyjamas to school that day.

Good News Assembly

Our December Good News Assembly is on Friday, December 22nd at 1:15 pm in the gym. Family members are welcome to attend.

New Website

Our new classroom websites are still in development. They will replace this website by the end of this month. Thanks for your patience with this matter.

Thank you for your ongoing support!
